Katarina’s Fair, Šoštanj
NOVEMBER – a traditional fair dedicated to leather, leather products and Slovenian leathermakers, accompanied every year by culinary delights
Šoštanj’s fair tradition dates back to the 14th century. The tradition comes alive every year with Katarina’s Fair featuring homemade products, arts, holiday gifts, new years flower arrangements, traditional cuisine, honey and meads.
Katarina’s fair, named after Katarina Alexandria, the patron saint of all professions associated with wheels or knives, preserves the memory of the Šoštanj’s leathermakers who had been working in Vošnjak’s leather factory since 1788. Although the organizers would like more suppliers of leather products to participate at the fair, they estimate that the fair offers are rich.
