130 Years of Tradition, Come to Mozirje’s Carnival
Mozirje’s Carnival has a 130 year tradition of chasing winter away. The authenticity and originality of the carnival customs in Mozirje contributed to the fact that in 1999 Mozirje was recorded as a European Carnival Place (FECC). A carnival procession, which includes at least one or even more local stories from the past year, has become one of the key elements of the carnival event.
Tradition, Fun and Friendship
Mozirje’s Carnival begins on the “fat” Thursday and continues late into the night with the granting of the rights of citizen to an immigrant that helped the development of Mozirje. Saturday evening a masquerade is held with the selection of the most original mask.
On Sunday carnival goers get heterogen at the Mozirje’s town square. In the afternoon there is a children’s masquerade where there is no lack of fun programs for children.
Mondays’ party spills into the carnival Tuesday, when masks take over the municipality. The afternoon is followed by a traditional carnival procession, featuring masks from abroad. In the evening the carnival party usually drags late into the night, ending in a mock burial concluding the carnival.
The program for the next year carnival is announced by the organizers on 11.11. at 11:11.
