Šoštanj’s carnival

Šoštanj is a famous carnival city, which also highly noted in Europe. Carnival with an international acts attracts many visitors every year. The daring masks are inspired by imagination and diversity.

Most attention is paid to Koši Šoštanjski

Koši Šoštanjski illustrate the leisure time of leathermakers who are a part of the Šoštanj heritage. The legend has it that the “Vošnjak fabricator” was paying his workers well. On payday the workers would go to a bar. When men did not return home, the wifes, in the evening would put on baskets and went on to look for their husbands in order to carry them home.
