Sheep Festival
Once a year, on the third Sunday of August, Šmihel above Mozirje revives old customs and traditions at former homesteads during the traditional Sheep Festival. The event is organised by the Šmihel Rural Youth Association in collaboration with other organisations and many individuals. They prepare the venue with a wooden alpine fence, set up a shepherd’s hut, and arrange stalls showcasing local farm products and cuisine from the hardworking local households, beekeepers, and others. The central part of the event features demonstrations of sheep farming, farm work, and forestry activities, while a prize-filled raffle adds extra excitement to the day.
